Imam Ali (a.s.)’s advice in the Nahjal-Balagha – Part 98
With reference to my discussion on Zikr (Remembrance of Allah), I would like to add that our actions in this world have consequences in our afterlife. In this context I quote below the following Ayahs which emphasize the importance of accepting and adhering to Allah (s.w.t)’s message as conveyed in the Holy Quran for a fulfilling life both in this world and in the hereafter.
Ayah 124 of Surah Taha: “And whosoever turns away from My Reminder, verily he shall have a straitened life, and We shall raise him on the Day of Resurrection blind.”
This Ayah highlights the consequences of turning away from Allah (s.w.t.)’s guidance, which would be a life of hardship in this world and spiritual blindness in the afterlife.
- “And whosoever turns away from My Reminder,”: This refers to those who reject or ignore the Holy Quran, Allah (s.w.t.)’s message, and its teachings.
- “…verily he shall have a straitened life,”: They will experience a life filled with difficulty, distress and spiritual emptiness in this world.
- “…and We shall raise him on the Day of Resurrection blind”: They will be resurrected blind, symbolizing their spiritual blindness and inability to perceive the truth, according toQuranic
Ayah 125 of Surah Taha: “He shall say: “Lord! Why have you raised me blind whereas indeed I was seeing before?”
Those who have been heedless of Allah (s.w.t.)’s Reminder will be in a state of despair and will question Allah (s.w.t.) about their plight.
Ayah 126 of Surah Taha: “God will say: “This is your recompense for Our Signs came to you, which you ignored and as such you are forsaken this very Day.”
The Ayah highlights that just as they disregarded the revelations; they will be forgotten and neglected by Allah (s.w.t.) in the hereafter.
- “….Our Signs came to you,”: Our Signs refer to proofs, evidences, verses, lessons, revelations as well as various forms of divine guidance and messages that were sent to humanity through prophets and scriptures.
- “…which you ignored…”: This implies that those who did not pay attention to these Signs or reflected upon them, and they actively rejected them.
- “…and as such you are forsaken this very Day.”: They will face the consequences of their actions in the hereafter, when they will be forgotten and abandoned by Allah (s.w.t.), and face punishment. To be continued
Second Sermon
According to some famous narrators the 8th of Rabial-Awwal is the martyrdom anniversary of Imam Hassan Al-Askari (a.s.) and I offer my condolences to his holy son, Imam Mahdi (a.j.f.) and to the followers of the Ahlul-Bait.
Hijrat – Part 2
Hijrat has a very special place in Islam; there are about 30 Ayahs in the Holy Quran pertaining to it and I quote below some of them, which I will analyses this week or later:
The holy has 114 Suras in which some of them reviled in the holy city of Mecca (86 Sura) and some of them reviled in Medina (28 Sura),the Suras had reviled In Mecca their meaning are totally different with Suras reviled in Medina and really is very useful to discuss but need suitable time.
I mentioned here some pf the Ayahs regarding of the issue of Hijrat (immigration).
Here some relevant Ayah:
- Ayah 218 of Surah Al-Baqarah:
- “Those who believed and those who migrated and strove in the Way of God, are they who hope for the mercy of God. And God is Forgiving, Merciful.”
- Ayah 195 of Surah Aale-Imran: “So the Lord responded to them: “I will not suffer the work of any of you to be lost, be they male or female, each one of you is from the other; therefore those who migrated and were driven out from their homes, and suffered in My Way, and who fought and were slain, I will most certainly blot out their sins, and I will most certainly admit them into gardens beneath which rivers flow; a reward from God. And with God alone is the excellent reward.”
- Ayahs 72, 74 and 75 of Surah Al-Anfal: “Verily, those who believed, migrated and strove with their possessions and lives in the way of God and those who sheltered and helped are guardians of one another; those who believed and did not migrate, you are not their guardian until they migrate, and if they seek help from you in matter of religion, then it is incumbent upon you to help them save against people between whom and you there is a covenant; God sees all that you do.
Those who believed, migrated and strove hard in the way of God and those who
Sheltered and helped, are truly believers, for them is forgiveness and an
honourable provision.
And those who believed later, migrated and strove with you, are of you; blood
Relatives are nearer to each other in the Book of God. Verily, God knows
everything.”
